Here are some of today’s phone conversations I enjoyed reading or viewing on the web, along with some brief thoughts:
Find Android apps easier and pay later (GigaOm) — Cole Brodman, CTO of T-Mo, offered up some deets on how the carrier will make it easier to find apps in the Android Market. Look for a T-Mobile Channel in the Market and integrated carrier billing to pay for app purchases via your phone bill. This kind of differentiation and customization could help T-Mobile, and even Android in general. I still think it can be a challenge to wade through 100,000 apps.
WinMo 6.5 upgrade for the Samsung Jack (PhoneScoop) — Another handset gets the upgrade treatment. Jack owners can grab the free upgrad, which will wipe personal data, directly from Samsung. Aside from the base operating system, the update includes an AT&T Wi-Fi app and Vlingo for voice commands.
webOS about to get faster? (EverythingPre) — Expectations are rising that the next webOS update will bring a bit more speed to the Pre, and presumably the Pixi, which is due out soon. I’d agree with some assessments — with similar hardware to the iPhone, the Pre seems slower by comparison in some respects. I wouldn’t call my Pre slow, but there are functions that are far quicker on my iPhone 3GS. I suspect we’ll see an update in the next few weeks, so we’ll see if performance is improved.
